GRACE ADOPTED IN 2014: For the new year we are honoring all our dogs who were adopted in 2014, and sharing updates all day. I have to say that GRACE was the most emotionally heartwarming save we had all year. Those who have been following our page this year know exactly who Grace is. To those of you who are knew to our page here is Graces story. We received a message on our page one day of a girl who was in the Smith County Kill Shelter. The messenger was begging us to save this girl who volunteers said was a must save. She was in horrible medical condition and her life was not only in danger of euthanasia, but of passing away from her medical condition. Grace had a prolapsed uterus, prolapsed rectum, heartworm positive, and had one of the worst internal infections that the vets had ever seen. We were soon contacted by Susan Jasper who wanted to assist in helping us save Grace. She agreed to help pick Grace up and get her transported to our vet. From then we worked quickly to get this girl out of the shelter and out of pain. Susan rushed to the shelter to get the girl. Soon after picking up we received a phone call that Grace needed to be hospitalized immediately. She would not survive the 1.5 hour transport trip. She was then immediately taken to the local vet in Tyler Tx. After arriving she was rushed into surgery immediately. It was touch and go for two days as Grace underwent two surgeries and battled the severe infection. Finally after prayers and waiting Grace pulled through. She stayed a few more days for monitoring and finally was able to be transported to us. Once we had Grace we allowed her time to relax and heal. Immediately Grace stole our hearts with her love and kindness. After healing Grace got to meet dogs, kids, and cats. After all see had been through this girl rolled over to play with her new doggie friends, let my daughter love all over her and enjoyed it, and was actually scared of the little kitten she got to meet. It brought tears to my eyes to see how amazing this girl was. After she had been breed for profit, and then dumped in the horrible condition she was in, she still loved people and animals more than anything. She was so forgiving and so loving. She touched the heart of everyone she met. After healing and getting back to normal Grace had one last step before becoming adoption ready and that was undergoing heartworm treatment. She went to stay with one of our amazing fosters and former adopter, Jane and Jerry. She stayed with them throughout her heartworm treatment and stole their hearts as well. After weeks with Jane and Jerry Grace was finally ready for adoption. After months of getting Grace healthy she was adopted shortly after she was ready. Grace got an amazing family who was patient and loving. Grace needed work on regular manners and potty training as she was most likely an outside dog whose only use was to make puppies. We are so grateful for Graces adoptive family. She finally got all the love and care in the world. After all she has been through Grace deserved the best. And she got the best and is living happily ever after. Graces adopters say: We adopted sweet Grace in June. Shes a joy! Shes stubborn and loves her naps in our bed! She loves her fur brother, Patch (dachshund whom she thinks is her baby) and Alabama her fellow girlfriend in crime in the backyard. They play together and defend the yard together. Shes getting better on walks but is very protective. She loves our kids and they love her. We are so blessed by Grace and are soo thankful Grace is a part of our family!!! EVERYONE LOVES YOU GRACE
