GRADE 2 SKIPPER with High Seas Command & GMDSS (MARITIME) - POSITION AVAILABLE, WESTERN CAPE: Maritime company in need of a Skipper to manage and control all aspects of the vessels operation and planning associated with the safe and efficient running of the vessel and crew. REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES: Grade 12 or equivalent; Qualified Fisherman Grade 2 Skipper; High Seas Command; Global Maritime Distress and Safety System General Operators certificate (GMDSS); Must have a relevant first aid and fire fighting qualification; Must have knowledge of health and safety practices; Must have good communication and writing skills; Must be computer literate; Be able to work under pressure; Be able to meet deadlines and motivate people; Be able to work in a team; Must have the ability to adapt and respond to change; Must have determination to meet company goals and objectives. RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure the safety of vessels and crew; Ensure navigation safety; Ensure overall compliance with all regulatory parties; Monitor and manage voyage planning; Monitor and manage onboard catering; Monitor and maintain machinery; Monitoring overall housekeeping; Maintain budgetary constraints; Ensure effective communication to relevant parties; Ensure effective personnel management; Responsible for all engineering activities inclusive of maintenance onboard; Ensure all machinery and equipment are maintained and kept in good working condition at all times; Expose individuals to the required level of competence; Ensure all officers and managers train and mentor staff.
