GRANADA WEATHER UPDATE Monday 26th May 2014: Good morning all. Lets talk weather and then lets talk some interesting facts just to get your week rolling!!!.......I did say I would keep you updated if anything untoward was on its way and I have already mentioned about mid week and the possibility of some rain!!!.....So, the update: Today is to be another day of mainly sun. There is that chance of increased cloud cover as the day progresses in some places as our heat is rising nicely. Regional winds are to remain fairly light but as we have heat local winds, as is the norm, could be blustery, or gusty or stormy or hurricane; its up to you how you want them described!!!........Tomorrows still looking good as well but again heat is rising and therefore even more chance of seeing cloud build in the afternoon and even the odd drop wet stuff, and then comes Wednesday!!!.......Now, I have been talking about possible rain for this day for a wee while so lets get somewhat technical here......There is to be an Occluded Front push in from the Atlantic into the Iberian Peninsular and push down from a North Westerly direction onto the Southern Coastline (see very latest Graphic for weather forecast weather position for Wednesday at Midday below). So what is an Occluded Front I here you say!!!......Well, Its that purple squiggly line with bumps on it!!!.......Actually it is the meeting or coming together of a Cold Front and a Warm Front and as a rule of thumb, what gets pushed in front of this front (boy have I got some front today!!!) is a great deal of thick cloud associated with rain!!!......But heres the quandary: Some weather models are showing overcast conditions with heavy rain and some are showing Sunshine so, for the purpose of this coming Wednesdays weather I am going to allow you to choose!!!......You have a 50/50 chance!!!......Me, I am looking at this front weakening and possibly even dissipating altogether, particularly as we are on its Southern edge, so I am expecting some cloud cover particularly in the afternoon again, with now greatly reduced risk of rain; but that does not mean none......just dont bank on it filling your water butt!!!........If we do see precipitation it will be short and showery from those darker blobs. So bottom line, not expecting anything significant at the mo for Wednesday although on the other side of the front they could see significant rain in the morning but thats way up mid country and wont affect you good people!!!.....Thursday and beyond is looking rather peachy with temperatures reaching baking degrees by the end of the week inland!!!.........Thats yoir weather updated and unless something shifts I will not be back to you on this matter until something else weather wise catches my eye!!!.......But, before I go lets talk some very good facts!!!......In case you havent noticed of late this Facebook group has been growing!!!........Granada group now has 494 members and climbing!!!......That means over 494 pairs of eyes and ears who have an interest in self preservation and the information that comes from this group!!!.......However, the Local Fire & Weather Watch, founded by Jill Leonard in Malaga, and assisted in the Administration of this and other groups by your very own Deborah Baine from Lecrin, is in fact a Network with nearly 6,000 members whos groups are set up on separate pages covering Huelva/Seville/Cadiz, Malaga, Granada, Almeria/Murcia, Alicante/Valencia, Valencia to Barcelona and Barcelona to the Costa Brava and its border with France!!!......Not to forget two further groups which are part of the LFWW Network for The Balearic Islands (Majorca, Menorca, Ibiza etc.) and The Canary Islands (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote etc.)!!!.....Some of these groups are in their infancy but when you consider that Jill Leonard started the first group just after the Great Costa del Sol fire of 2012, as a result of desperately trying to seek information on the web including Social Media on the state and direction of the fire, and finding no one location with good focused information, means that in less than two years this Network has blossomed to be a fast growing source of valuable up to date information and knowledge on Wild Fire & Weather with one aim......YOUR SAFETY!!!.......All the Local Fire & Weather Watch groups are open groups; open for anybody to like and contribute information that is relevant to Fire and Weather and, indeed, any other safety advice that may be prevalent. So, if your new Welcome, if your an old hand at this then rejoice in the knowledge that more and more people are looking out for you thanks to one persons inspiration to generate this page!!!.......This group is 6 members short of the 500 mark. The more members you folks bring in the better it is for you all as more information will flow in times of problem. So, do yourselves a favour and invite your local family, friends, neighbours, enemys etc. on board!!!......After all, its a great place for sensible knowledge!!!........Phew, I deserve a cuppa for that!!!.......Jim Fraser for and on behalf of The Local Fire & Weather Watch Network :)
