GRAND-MODEL “RUSSIA” Grand-model “Russia” isn’t just a huge model. It is the whole alive country with the riding cars, people living their lives and trains going to the destination points. Here and there the light of TV towers, antennas and buildings can be seen. The season and the time of the day is changing as well. All these events are happening in the face of the viewers. Total area of exhibition is 800 square meters. The authors of the project never aspired to cartographical accuracy, so they developed an original conception of miniature Russia. Grand-model “Russia” is a collective image of Russia from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok created of the materials at hand. 30000 figures of people are doing some functions that make the model a kind of alive; they go hunting, fencing at race track, supporting at the stadium etc. To involve the viewers into the process the model is supplemented with lots of key buttons. You never know what happens on pressing: it may be the fountain that starts working or the birds will flap with wings or even the fire may start in the forest. The model is managed by 40 computers.
