GRAND PRIZE WINNER ANNOUNCED! Congratulations to our top five finalists in Willamette Writers’ 2014 FiMLaB competition! The Grand Prize winner will have his/her script produced by Willamette Writers and Ampersand Productions, and will be screened at this year’s conference. Our Hollywood Judges for the 2014 FiLMLaB Competition: TAI DUNCAN PRESIDENT OF PRODUCTION ZERO GRAVITY MANAGEMENT BIO: As President of Production, Tai oversees all aspects of development, production and distribution of Zero Gravity produced projects in both the independent and studio worlds for film and all television. While Senior Vice President of Development and Production at Paul Schiff Productions, Tai oversaw film projects from inception to completion encompassing all aspects of development, casting, finance and production. During his time at PSP Tai was involved with various aspects of the feature films: MONA LISA SMILE (Sony Pictures Entertainment), WALKING TALL (MGM), HOOLIGANS (Odd Lot Entertainment) DATE MOVIE, and EPIC MOVIE (New Regency/20th Century Fox), THE AIR I BREATHE, NUMB, SPIN, TENURE, REVENGE OF THE BRIDESMAIDS, and RED MACHINE. Prior to working with Paul Schiff, Tai worked as a Creative Executive at The Donners’ Company, primarily focusing on identifying and procuring new projects and contributing to the creative aspects of the following films: TIMELINE (Paramount), CONSTANTINE (Warner Brothers), X2 (20th Century Fox) and OUT COLD (Buena Vista/Spyglass Entertainment). MARC MANUS LITERARY MANAGER/PRODUCER MANUS ENTERTAINMENT BIO: Marc Manus, a former award-winning photojournalist, attended USC film school before entering the field of artist representation. His first job was with manager Cathryn Jaymes, who represented the Academy-Award winning writer/director Quentin Tarantino. Marc held positions at various management companies, including Incognito Entertainment, which produced the Warner Bros.’ comedy “Three to Tango,” before forming Manus Entertainment. He has a well-respected roster of emerging writers and directors involved in film and television projects at companies such as 20th Century Fox, Anchor Bay, Lionsgate and Syfy. A few recent projects include a remake of “Ghost From the Machine” set up at Universal Pictures, “Crawl to Me,” an adaptation of the best-selling graphic novel, set up with Rodar y Rodar (“The Orphanage”) and action-thriller “Gridlocked,” starring Cuba Goodling, Jr. Marc recently served as co-producer on the horror-thriller “Delivery,” which made its world premiere at the 2013 Los Angeles Film Festival. PATRICK SANTA DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT JOHN GLENN ENTERTAINMENT-UNIVERSAL STUDIOS BIO: Patrick Santa was born and raised in Portland, graduating from Catlin Gabel before going on to the University California at Santa Barbara. Soon after he started as a creative executive at The Mark Gordon Company where he worked on current shows like GREY’S ANATOMY and RAY DONOVAN, and on the development of over 30 set up projects across the four major broadcast networks. He is currently the director of development at John Glenn Entertainment, a TV/Film production company with an overall deal in television at Universal Studios. This year, JGE has set up four television projects at NBC and FOX, including a shot pilot, as well as two feature projects at the studios.
