GRASSHOPPER MENTALITY MEMORY VERSE: there we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight, Numbers 13:33 BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Deut 10, Ps 94, Isa 38, Rev In Numbers 13:1-33 Moses chose twelve men to go and spy out the land of the Canaan. Ten out of these twelve brought back a report of fear, they said there we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight, Numbers 13:33. The children of Israel heard this report and began to doubt the Holy One of Israel. At the end none of those who doubted the power of God entered the promise land. The ten that brought back the report of fear had a GRASSHOPPER MENTALITY. What are the symptoms of GRASSHOPPER MENTALITY? It is seeing yourself as insignificant and unimportant; thinking of yourself as a person who can’t do something even before you try; viewing yourself as an individual who doesn’t have what it takes to me more than average or even worse , to be only average; looking in the mirror and seeing a reflection of someone you don’t like very much; sizing things up and determining that you’ll never get beyond where you are right now; wanting to be average ;having a feeling of inferiority which cause you to perceive everything that happens in your life as a reflection of what you cannot do or what you cannot be e.t.c. There are one or two things you need to know about GRASSHOPPER MENTALITY. Firstly it is contagious; ten men infected a whole nation with this mentality. Anyone who wants to achieve something major for Christ must do away with the companies of people with GRASSHOPPER MENTALITY. Secondly, it robs a fellow of his possessions. Before Israel was born God had already giving the land of Canaan to Abraham and his descendants, all they needed to do was possess the land but they refused because they felt they were not good enough. Long before you were born (2000 years ago) the Lord had overcome the world for you, John 16:33. All we need to do is just possess our possessions but many cannot because of GRASSHOPPER MENTALITY. Thirdly, it turns a great man into an ordinary man. The Israelite were not an ordinary race; they were God’s own children. GRASSHOPPER MENTALITY made them ordinary. Thank God for Jesus, we are all spiritual Israelite. Fourthly, GRASSHOPPER MENTALITY leads to stagnancy and regression. The children considered returning to Egypt because they felt inferior to the inhabitants of Canaan, Number 14:3-4. GRASSHOPPER MENTALITY is not of God but of the devil. Everything God created is good, 1 Timothy 4:4. PRAYER POINT; Father please rid me of every GRASSHOPPER MENTALITY that is making me to crawl when I should be flying.
