GREAT CONTINUING EDUCATION subscribe its free: newjerseymassage GHOSTS! How we carry our ancestors around with us. by Larry Heisler, M.A., LMT I went to a workshop at our Summit facility, the TerraSky Center, conducted by a very gifted intuitive and medium, Pam Meredith. A medium is someone who can connect with our deceased loved ones on the proverbial Other side. You probably have seen John Edward on his television show (Crossing Over) or perhaps read a book by another famous medium and best selling author James Van Praagh. These exceptional individuals use their extrasensory abilities to give solace, insight and direct messages to us from our deceased loved-ones. For many of us, this talking to the dead is going to take a major stretch of your imagination to consider. But when you see it in person and they are saying things that absolutely no one on the planet would know about except for you and that significant deceased other, it is mind boggling. The mediums are clearly saying that there is no such thing as death and that death like Carl Jung posited is more a continuum of consciousness that carries on. Many of the folks I know have amazing after-life stories and you might remember that just recently I wrote about a near death experience in this newsletter. As a minister and meditation teacher since the 1970s, I have experienced and been surrounded by many profound and unexplainable phenomena. My stories when shared make my friends scratch their heads in amazement. My meditation teacher, Hilda Charlton was so gifted after a lifetime of serious meditation practice and spiritual work that the physicians throughout the tri-state area would routinely confer with her. And many years now after her passing, her students still feel her presence and continually dream about her. Many exclaim they are still directly influenced by her. So when I tell you I completely believe in an after-life, it is based on my intense personal spiritual experiences. I will also add that it doesnt require you to believe any of it, not a shred. Thanatology, the scientific study of death and dying is a rich and fascinating area that will be bandied about and discussed seemingly forever. Why an individual chooses to incarnate on this planet and work out their past life karma (actions) or why a seeming innocent is born with a life threatening condition, can be nicely explained for people who believe in the confluence of life between the two worlds. When introducing what we were about to experience at the workshop, Pam, our TerraSky medium shared something quite interesting. She said that many of us carry our deceased loved ones around with us and very often she feels their presence in the room with the person she is working with. She went so far as to say they sometimes travel along with their loved one remaining close as a support system. I guess its like having your own personal family entourage. She went on to share that those individuals that are embroiled in their own melodrama very often cut themselves off from the solace and assurance they might feel or receive from loved ones on the other side. They are too filled up with self to hear, feel or connect. In many Asian cultures, families often designate an area in the home to be a shrine for their deceased ancestors. The shrine will have pictures or personal effects of the family members with lit candles, food offerings and such. It would be the place where the family might meditate, pray or worship. A place where living family members could go to feel the strength and continuity of the past generations. Michio Kushi has often said there will come a time when you have to release the ghosts from your past and let them move along on their spiritual journey. That can only happen when you have become healthy enough to go the path of life without leaning outward. He personally told me that I should surround myself with the pictures and artifacts of those beloveds, to clear my consciousness with breathing exercises and meditation and then tell them that I am really strong, happy and OK and can go the path without their help. He said after a week of this process I would feel clearer and cleaner than I ever have in my life. Of course the only way I know to achieve such a healthy state is by making a Hellbent for Heaven commitment in our daily practice. You are down here to EVOLVE! Meditation, optimal nutrition, exercise, supplementation and a spiritual perspective toward continued personal growth and service is the only dance there is and the sooner you get on the good foot the quicker the doors of consciousness will open. Just the writing of these thoughts and considerations will put me on the kook list in some of my more sophisticated and intellectual circles but I dont care. I will tell you for me and profoundly so, after a lifetime of serious spiritual work and introspection, I can tell you unequivocally, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO SUCH THING AS DEATH! Think about it.
