GREAT DOG NEEDS EXPERIENCED HOME... This is Ranger. He is a husky / heeler. About a yr and a half old. He has been fixed and has his shots and microchip. We rescued him from the camano island shelter about 8 months ago. They told us he had been adopted but was returned because he started nipping people. We have experience with all dogs, figured that just came with the breed. But lately he has been growling at our 7 year old boy for either trying to sit on the couch next to him, or for other mild things. We have done everything to try to correct it. He does not like his collar pulled on or his neck touched very much. We dont know why, but he will tense up and sometimes bite if he is nervous enough. He absolutely LOVES kids, loves to play with them, gives them kisses, wags his tail... But there are just certain moments where he will growl if he thinks he will be crawled on or grabbed on the neck. I am guessing the person who adopted him before us either put a shock collar on him or a prong collar. He is an EXCELLENT GAURD DOG. He does bark, but only when someone is walking by, knocks on the door, or he sees another dog. He is only about 60 lbs, but he thinks he is much bigger. :) He has a ton of energy so he needs a very big yard or property. He is a partly inside dog, and he cannot go to a home where he would be kept outside all the time. He loves to be with his people. He has had access to our couch and sleeps ON the bed with us, wants to be against my husband on the bed. We have another dog who is his best friend, so it would be nice if you had another dog to keep him company. He is ok with cats, but will chase them. Has never been around livestock or chickens. Ranger is a very special dog, and we will not give him to just anyone. We will do interviews and a home check. There will be a $50 rehoming fee to insure you can afford to take care of him. You MUST have experience with dogs, he is not a good first dog and should have older kids who will respect him but play with and love him.
