PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION BELOW FROM OUR UK ALUMNI OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION UNITED KINGDOM CHAPTER NOTICE OF NOMINATION and ELECTION Notice is hereby given that the nominations for election to the members of the Executive Committee of the Great Ife Alumni Association, UK Chapter, are now open. The Electoral Committee has been set up to conduct the election in accordance to Section 8 (j & k) of the constitution of the OAU Alumni Association UK. The election to the positions listed below will be held on Saturday, 30 November 2013. The list of received nominations, venue and time of the election as well as further information on Election Day process will be communicated by the Electoral Committee in due course. The Electoral Committee will receive nominations for the following offices; (1) Chairman (2) Vice Chairman (3) Secretary (4) Assistant Secretary (5) Social Secretary (6) Publicity Secretary (7) Assistant Publicity Secretary (8) Treasurer (9) Financial Secretary (10) Legal Officer GUIDANCE ON NOMINATION All nominations or expression of interest shall be made in writing to [email protected] not later than Friday, 22 November 2013. In accordance to Section 12 of the constitution of the OAU Alumni Association UK, eligibility for nominations is as follows; (a) Only members shall be entitled to vote and be voted for, in respect of any elective position (b) A candidate for any elective office of the Association shall be nominated or proposed in writing by a member and seconded by another member of the Association. The proposer and the seconder like the candidate must be qualified voters at the date of such nomination. Any member who is in arrears in his/her financial obligations to the Association shall be disqualified from nominating or proposing or seconding the nomination or proposal of any elective office of the Association. (c) No members of the same family shall be nominated or allowed to contest for any elective post or be an executive committee member during the same election year (d) No member shall occupy the same office for more than two consecutive terms. (e) In order to qualify as an officer of the Association, the candidate must have an earned degree from the University, have graduated at least three (3) years prior to the election and have been a member of the Association for at least one (1) year. (f) All elections shall be by secret ballot (g) Whoever wins simple majority of the votes cast in any election shall be declared winner (h) The election results shall be announced at the meeting where it takes place.
