GREAT NEWS! For all of you who love running trails or those of you who have been interested in trying it out but havent had the chance, here it is! Team RWB is lucky to have a great supporter, Joe Prusaitis, who also happens to be the Race Director and owner of Tejas Trails (tejastrails). Joe has graciously offered FOUR FREE ENTRIES into the WIld Hare trail run in Warda, Texas, on November 22nd, 2014. Wild Hare offers trail run distances of: 10k (6.2 miles), 25k (15 miles), 50k (31 miles) and a 50 miler. All distances are on the same day, but some have different start times. Because of the 10k distance, this is the perfect event for beginners. Since there are longer distances going on at the same time, there is no time cut off for the 10k or 25k, meaning walk/run or even hiking the course is welcome! So - Did somebody say FREE ENTRIES? :) Heres how you can qualify for the first giveaway - CHARITY MILES CHALLENGE For the months of July and August, log in to the charity miles app, make sure you sign up for the Lafayette team, and log your running/walking and biking miles. At the end of August, a free entry to the distance of your choice will be given to both the running/walking leader, as well as the biking leader. For those of you who are hesitant to commit to a trail race because you havent yet made it out to the trails, good news! SATURDAY, AUGUST 16TH at 6:30 a.m. at Acadiana Park, we will have our first installment of Trail U for this season. We will talk for a few minutes before the run about trail running basics, then do an easy 3 mile trail run through the park trails, followed by a Q & A session with seasoned trail veterans. We will talk about trail shoes, nutrition, hydration options, and specifically about the Wild Hare race and what to expect. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13th at 6:30 a.m. at Acadiana Park, we will have a follow up session where we will answer any questions and go over the basics again briefly for those who may have missed the earlier session. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4, TIME TBD at Chicot State Park - we will have our first official group run. Any distance is welcome, since it will probably be an out and back, so you will be able to turn around at any time you are ready. Within the next few days, I will post a detailed description of Wild Hare for anyone who is curious, but in the meantime, please feel free to check it out at TejasTrails. Edie
