GREAT NEWS!! They decided to start waking up Lee today at 11am. They are happy with his progress, and are starting to test whether or not he can remain stable when they cut off the oxygen they have been supplying. They arent ready to remove the respirator yet, but he regained some consciousness (though he was very groggy) whilst we were there. I asked him if he was in any pain and he moved his head left/right/left, so a clear no. He tried to look at us with one eye but was obviously struggling to focus, but he acknowledged we were there - WHOOP!!!! The relief is hard to describe. I know its baby steps, but its movement. I still don’t have a clear picture on timescales, but they said it normally takes 24-48 hours to wake someone, and then they need to observe him for at least 5 days. Then, and only when they are very happy for him to travel, they will talk repatriation. That takes another 48 hours. So we are definitely here for at least another week.
