GREATNESS #2… The followers of “the new cross gospel,” want - TopicsExpress

GREATNESS #2… The followers of “the new cross gospel,” want to walk with God, but…enjoy the way of their sinful nature as well. However, the problem becomes troublesome when they try to get God to align Himself with them in the kingdom of man. Jesus said, “Those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves, will be exalted.” (Matt. 23:12) Since, according to the scriptures, (John 13:14-17)there is only ONE who is great, it seems rather futile for anyone to even try to be great. Of course, we are speaking of “greatness” from the perspective of man. From God’s vantage point, “greatness” is defined from the perspective of being a servant of everyone. Listen, “The greatest among you MUST be a servant.”(Matt.23:11) And, “…All of you, serve each other in humility, for ‘God opposes the proud but favors the humble.” (1Pet.5:5) So, the definition of greatness is servanthood!! And…the price Jesus paid to be the chief servant was suffering because He is righteous. (We will talk soon about the power of suffering.) In addition to the suffering of the loss of all His rights as an equal in the Godhead, He suffered the “privilege” to tolerate living with us in our world with our “stuff ”and our inability to “get it” no matter how clearly He said it. Add to that the sacrifice at the Cross, and the powerful wonder of His glorious resurrection, and you get a little feel for the price and privilege we have to serve each other into their place of honor in the presence of God, and in the “presence of your enemies.” Jesus has shown us how it works. “ So, He got up from the table…and poured water into a basin. Then He began to wash the disciples feet…then He said, Since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.” (John 13:4,5,14,15) Sit and consider how your obedience to being “great” Jesus’ Style, will transform your life, and the lives of everyone within your sphere of influence. RIDE THE WIND into life on earth becoming for you, “as it is in heaven.”! (Thank you for sharing this Post with your FB friends.)
