GREEN ARMY PROJECT Moree Plains Shire Council in conjunction with Manpower Group and Landcare Australia are currently recruiting for nine (9) participants and a Supervisor to join our upcoming Green Army Project at Boobera Lagoon, Boggabilla NSW. What is Green Army? The Green Army is an Australian Government initiative open to young people (teams of 9 participants per project) including Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Australians, school leavers, gap year students, graduates and job seekers who are looking for employment to develop skills, undertake training and gain hands on experience in environmental projects that generate real and rewarding benefits for the environment and the local community. BOGGABILLA Position Title Green Army Team Supervisor Applications close on Friday January 23rd 2015 Position Purpose The Green Army Team Supervisor is responsible for the safety, welfare, training and supervision of Green Army Teams on practical conservation projects to achieve agreed training and environmental outcomes. Team Supervisors work within the requirements of the Project Agreement, Operations Manual and the Green Army Programme Guidelines provided by the Department of the Environment. Team Supervisors have unique opportunities to make an impact on the protection and rehabilitation of our natural environment by managing teams of 9 young people (aged 17 to 24 years) participating in practical, hands-on conservation activities. They will help to shape the future of young people, acting as a positive role model. The role is responsible for the organisation and management of a highly productive team, as well as development, training and mentoring of participants to achieve milestones and outcomes within the project scope. Section B: Experience /Qualifications ESSENTIAL Qualifications • An Australian citizen or resident and minimum of 18 years of age • Full Drivers Licence with a good driving record • Ability to satisfy requirements for Working with Children and National Police History Check • Certificate or similar qualification in conservation, land management, environmental management, horticulture, landscaping, agriculture, or related area • Current first aid training to the HLTFA311A standard (note this will be provided upon commencement where necessary) Experience • Demonstrated experience implementing and guiding teams to comply with formal WHS procedures, disciplinary framework and working within defined operational requirements • Demonstrated experience in land rehabilitation methods, including bush regeneration, ecological processes and interactions with the broader landscape • Demonstrated experience delivering on the job training for daily work tasks • Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook skills • Comfortable working with mobile technologies and online reporting Attributes • Strong organisational and time management skills • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise workload • A commitment to providing excellent customer service • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team • Professional, mature and confident approach Desirable • Experience in leading and mentoring groups/teams of young people • Training in emergency response procedures • Some knowledge of environmental and heritage approvals and protocols • Awareness of and sensitivity to cultural and heritage issues • Experience in the site management, documentation and reporting of an environmental restoration project • Experience in working with Aboriginal communities • Experience working with regulators and participating in external reviews • Experience driving a 12 seater vehicle or similar How to Apply? • Candidates for the Green Army Team Supervisor position must email an Application addressing the Selection Criteria above and their Resume • All applications must be emailed to Kylie Davies at Manpower – [email protected] • Applications will no longer be accepted at seek. • Please see further information regarding this position attached. • Alternatively, please contact Kylie Benge at Moree Plains Shire Council on the number below if you need any assistance with applying.
