GREGS COUNTRY MUSIC NEWS & NOTES 5.20.14 Brantley Gilbert‘s - TopicsExpress

GREGS COUNTRY MUSIC NEWS & NOTES 5.20.14 Brantley Gilbert‘s ‘Just As I Am’ album is now in stores, containing the Georgia-raised singer’s No. 1 hit ‘Bottoms Up’ and his new single ‘Small Town Throwdown.’ Gilbert says he doesn’t write about anything he hasn’t lived, and doesn’t record anything he hasn’t written meaning each of the nine remaining songs is also a page — or chapter — from his diary. For Gilbert, the last four years have brought a high-profile relationship and breakup, the loss of a friend, sobriety and a lesson in loyalty. It’s all on ‘Just As I Am,’ but only the singer holds the keys to which songs are about what, or who. Reese Witherspoon made country headlines last weekend when she visited her southern roots for a duet with Kenny Chesney. The actress jumped on stage to sing a Johnny Cash song with the singer during a charity event in New Orleans. The two sang ‘Jackson’. You may know Reese is very familiar with the song since she played June Carter Cash in the 2005 film ‘Walk the Line’ with Joaquin Phoenix. The crowd got to see the two sing together while they raised money for Drew Brees and Matthew McConaughey’s charities, the Dream Foundation and the Just Keep Livin’ Foundation. Dan + Shay fans are getting the chance to catch the country duo live this fall! They will be hitting the road in October with a series of concerts throughout southeastern United States. Dan + Shay burst onto the country music scene in April with their debut record, ‘Where It All Began’ which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard country album charts. The ACM-nominated pair has been on the road with Hunter Hayes‘ Invisible Tour, but will get to see their own name in the headliner spot this fall. And Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney have got major summer plans as well, with live shows and festivals all over the country. The Where It All Began Tour will kick off October 9 and hits major cities like Nashville and New York City before wrapping up in Columbus, Ohio. The duos treck hits Robinsonville, Miss. on Oct 17.
