GRIEVING THE HOLY SPIRIT. The major tactic of the devil - TopicsExpress

GRIEVING THE HOLY SPIRIT. The major tactic of the devil nowadays is to lure unsuspecting Christians into sinning against the Holy Spirit knowing fully well that its consequences are grievous. The Holy Spirit is a personality and so He can be sinned against. “Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men” Mathew 12:31. Believer’s thoughts and words are treasures that must be guided jealously; the heart must be pure to bring forth words that will glorify God always. Idle words come from a corrupt heart and it shall be judged on the judgement day. That is why the Psalmist said in Psalm 1:1 that “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful” because they will drag you into unprofitable conversations that will eventually make you speak corrupt words that can ensnare you and make you sin against the Holy Spirit. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is speaking about God or “Holy things” in an offensive way or using insults. It is blasphemy when you ascribe the miraculous work of God to that of Satan or giving the glory due to God to devil/demon. When you belittle/trivialize the work of the Holy Spirit, it is blasphemy. Some people claim be Christians yet they refuse to accept the saving work of Jesus on the cross, call the Holy spirit a liar when manifesting through children of God, or lie against the Holy Spirit; some even refuse to refuse to wash in the blood of Jesus Christ the Lamb of God. All these are insult to the Holy Spirit; it is a sin against the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit can be stilled or silenced in the following ways: failure to obey Him when we read His Word, failure to take necessary actions when He appeals to our conscience, criticizing the manifestation of the Holy Spirit, fighting God by fighting prophetic utterances, disbelieving inspired messages. When we allow a heart of pride, refuse to take Holy Spirit correction, persist in wrong doing, turn deaf ears to the counsel of the Holy Spirit, it vexes (annoys) the Holy Spirit. Resisting the Holy Spirit is also a sin Christians must be careful about. The Holy Spirit can be resisted in the following ways: Denying the Holy Spirit our willing heart to obey, not responding to the quickening work of the Holy Spirit, pretending as if we do not know or recognize His voice, rejecting His appeal, instructions or guidance. If a bottle contains a liquid and you break such bottle, it is not only the bottle that is affected but the liquid in it also. Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 3:16. When we think that we are offending a child of God, we are tempting the Holy Spirit in him/her. The Holy Spirit can be tempted and it is a sin against the Holy Spirit. When you deceive the brethren, falsify facts, lie and pretend, defraud in tithes and offerings, commit secret sins, exaggerate and create false impressions you tempt the Holy Spirit. We can also sin against the Holy Spirit by grieving Him. We grieve the Holy Spirit when we allow sin, engage in unholy conversation, disobey God, and do not guard our utterances. Committing sin against the Holy Spirit is like fighting God, nobody can win such battle but when you strive to stop committing sin, you begin to get God’s favour and mercy. Any question? Remain Blessed. #cBRAIN.
