GROVES POLICE DEPARTMENT CALLS FOR SERVICE AUGUST 14 - 20, 2013 112 Miscellaneous calls for service assistance 32 Offense reports filed 2 Motor vehicle accidents investigated WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 14, 2013 A citizen in the 4100 block of Milo reported that someone had forged several checks for over $500.00 from a local credit union without consent. THURSDAY, AUGUST 15, 2013 A disturbance was reported in the 5300 block of Gulfway Drive. Burglary of a building was reported in the 6100 block of Madison. Reported taken were an orange & white Stihl chainsaw valued at $900.00. Criminal Trespass warning was issued to a 19 year old male in the 3100 block of Allison after a disturbance. A disturbance was reported in the 4600 block of Boyd. FRIDAY, AUGUST 16, 2013 Criminal Mischief was reported after an object was thrown through a house window in the 6300 block of Val. A Taurus .40 caliber pistol was stolen from the 2400 block of Nottingham. Burglary of a Habitation was reported in the 4300 block of McKinley where several items were stolen. Burglary of a building was reported in the 6200 block of Gulfway. A dog bite was reported in the 6100 block of Washington. Fradulent checks were received for payment of items for sale on the internet. The local seller verified that the checks were fraudulent before shipping the items. A 29 year old male was arrested for DWI in the 5400 block of W. Parkway. SATURDAY, AUGUST 17 , 2013 A 39 year old female was arrested for DWI in the 5800 block of 32nd Street. A 24 year old male was arrested on outstanding Port Arthur PD warrants after officers were called to a disturbance in the 5100 block of E. Parkway. A disturbance was reported in the 7200 block of Terrell. A Kenwood radio was stolen from a vehicle in the 5300 block of Gulfway. SUNDAY, AUGUST 18, 2013 An Alpine DVD/CD player was stolen from a vehicle in the 3100 block of Lay Avenue. A Samsung laptop computer was stolen the 6300 block of Warren. A 26 year old male was arrested for Public Intoxication in the 4100 block of McKinley. MONDAY, AUGUST 19, 2013 Burglary of a building was reported by a resident in the 3300 block of Canal, reported stolen was a STIHL gas leaf blower and weedeater each valued at $250.00. Lawn mower ramps valued at $200.00 were reported taken from the 4900 block of Doyle. TUESDAY, AUGUST 20, 2013 Citizen in the 5500 block of W. Washington reported the unauthorized use of a 98’ green Acura with a value of $4,000.00. An orange Echo chainsaw valued at $170.00 was reported stolen from the 6200 block of Warren. Check forgery and theft was reported by a local business in the 4500 block of Twin City Highway and a Criminal Trespass Warning was issued to a 46 year old male.
