GRU airport closed due to civil unrest in brazil.....we spend 3 1/2 hours going 20 miles to the airport and never made it there ....airport closed.....then the station manager called and had the nerve to say who told u to go back to the airport !!! hmmm, well they are turning buses over..people are running out of gas cause the cars are stopped for 20-40 miles in dead still traffic and the news is reporting the airport is closed....any other questions? Next gem was then 2 1/2 hours going back to the hotel.......and our schedule shows our pickup at 530am..and take off around 7am......i think someone is not doing their math right south of the border? Captain trying to sort it all out right now.....we have been up 7 hours almost as long as the flight time...and they want us to fly without legal rest tomorrow....hmmmmmmm......I am off to bed...lets see how this plays out.
