GST : The Timing Is Right THE day of the Goods and Services tax (GST) introduction is drawing nigh. The government is committed to staying the course. In doing so, Malaysia will be joining the 160 other countries, or 80 per cent of the world, including seven from Asean, who have implemented a similar tax. The benefits of the GST are several. Not only is ours among the lowest of the countries implementing a consumption tax, the GST is also equitable in generously exempting goods and services from its application.
