#GTPD Media Release ***UPDATE to College Drive Crash 9-22-2014*** The Gloucester Township Department responded to a single car motor vehicle crash on College Drive near Winding Way on Saturday September 20th at 3:57 am. The vehicle had left the roadway and struck a telephone pole. The driver was transported to Cooper Hospital in critical condition. It was reported that the driver, identified as Oladapo Alao, succumbed to his injuries on Monday, September 22, 2014. The crash remains under investigation by the Gloucester Township Police Serious Crash Investigation Team. Driver: Oladapo Alao, age 22, 300 block of Erial Road, Sickelrville NJ https://local.nixle/alert/5271909/ Gloucester Township Police Media Release: GTPD Responds To Two Serious Crashes Overnight 9-20-2014 Crash #1: Car vs. Pedestrian - 700 block of Somerdale Road., Case #: 14-39366 On September 20, 2014 at approximately 01:03 AM, Gloucester Township Police responded to Somerdale Road for a pedestrian that was struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arrival officers found a male pedestrian collapsed on a front lawn in the 700 block of Somerdale Rd. suffering from injuries to his head and upper torso. He was taken to Cooper Hospital Trauma Center by ambulance for further evaluation, and was reported to be in critical condition. The driver stopped at the scene, and was not injured. There are no charges at this time. The identities of the driver and pedestrian are not being released at this time, pending family notifications. Crash #2: Car into Utility Pole - College Drive near Winding Way, Case #: 14-39372 As Officers were clearing from this incident, at approximately 3:57 AM, Officers responded to College Drive near Winding Way for a report of a vehicle into a utility pole. Officers arrived and found the car wrapped around a utility pole, entrapping the lone occupant in the vehicle. Fire Department and EMS extricated the driver out of the vehicle and the driver was flown to Cooper Hospital Trauma Center via helicopter. The driver was reported to be in critical condition. The crash caused portions of College Drive to be closed for approximately 8 hours. The identity of the driver is not being released at this time, pending family notifications.
