GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: Well, I saw it twice in the last three days, so that should say plenty. People all over the Internet are blowing sunshine up this movies butt, so Ill keep it short...Disney and Marvel absolutely, completely, 100% know EXACTLY what theyre doing. The casting is perfect (didnt think Id ever say that about a movie starring Batista), and the writing is unlike anything youve ever seen in a comic book movie before...because it isnt REALLY a comic book movie. I mean, it IS totally a comic book movie, but in the same way that Shaun of the Dead is a zombie movie. Its a comedy first and foremost (not a superhero genre spoof or parody, just a straight-up comedy.) And it is a SUCCESS. I cant say enough good things about it, its by far my favorite movie this summer, pure joy to watch. Theres a little too much CGI actiony type stuff for my tastes, but I understand that stuff is a necessary evil so that it can appeal to a wider audience. 9.5/10
