GUERNSEY ANIMAL AID CATS LATEST! I have received many kind messages of support and concern about a rumour that is circulating that our cats were set free from the cattery. This is not the case, and all cats and kittens are safe. At the moment we have a mild outbreak of cat flu, and all cats are confined to their pens to reduce the risk of spreading the infection. We have notices up stating that the cattery is closed at present and viewing is by appointment only. However, on Sunday 24th November 2013, three thoughtless members of the public decided to ignore the signs, enter the cattery, open pens and let cats intermingle in the cattery area, therefore spreading the infection. This has resulted in two cats coming down with the infection again, when they had started to get better and were on the last of their medication. One cat is severely ill, in isolation and on a drip at our vets. Four more cats were in need of veterinary treatment, resulting in two of them being kept in overnight. So thanks to these very thoughtless and ignorant individuals we have had to put the cattery on severe lockdown and the cattery is now closed until the infection is clear. Many thanks to everyone who has sent kind messages of support, and I will let you know when we are able to open the cattery. Marianne@Animal Aid
