GUESTS UNVEILED FOR 23rd PHILADELPHIA FILM FESTIVAL Highlights include visiting talent St. Vincent, Gabriel, Titli, Happy Valley, I am Big Bird, and more (Friday, October 10, 2014 - Philadelphia, Pa) - The 23rd Philadelphia Film Festival will welcome many leading filmmakers to showcase their latest works at this years event. The Festival kicks off on Thursday, October 16 with a special presentation of St. Vincent, a rousing comedy starring Bill Murray that also had its opening night World Premiere at the 2014 Toronto Film Festival. Director Ted Melfi and actor Jaedan Lieberher will be in attendance for a post-screening Q&A. Throughout the 11-day event, guests can catch a few PFF alums, welcoming back actor Rory Culkin, who is stirring critics with his captivating performance in Lou Howes directorial debut Gabriel; Bryn Mawr native Alex Ross Perry will attend with his third feature, Listen Up Philip, starring Jason Schwartzman and Elizabeth Moss; Directors Jeff Reichert and Farihah Zaman return with their most recent work, This Time Next Year, documenting the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy; and Dave Boyle with his neo-noir mystery film, Man From Reno, which won the Narrative Award at the 2014 LA Film Festival. The Festival is also excited to host Caroll Spinney, the 80 year-old subject of I Am Big Bird and the man behind some of Americas most beloved muppets; Indian Director Kanu Behl with his first directorial venture, Titli, that debuted earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival; and documentarian Amir Bar-Lev with the controversial film Happy Valley, shedding light on the scandal that rocked the Penn State community.
