GUIDE ME O, THOU GREAT JEHOVAH! “The Lord will guide you always.” Isaiah 58:11 How comforting it is to read this promise of God! Each day in this world brings new challenges to us. We have important decisions to make, decisions- regarding our careers, the future of our children, our finances, our marriage and so on. We sincerely wish, that we have someone by our side to guide us in the right path. Ultimately we realize that however good and wise are the counsel that we get from our well wishers, they are not all perfect. There are some flaws somewhere. But the guidance we get from our Lord will never ever be crooked. He will always lead us in the right path because He alone knows our present situation and as well as all events that would happen in our lives in future. So we have every reason to follow fearlessly the direction of our Lord. After the death of Moses, Joshua might have had hundred and one questions on how to lead the stubborn and rebellious Israelites to the land of Canaan. But the Lord assured him of His presence saying, “No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous.”(Joshua 1:5,6) And He was true to His promise. Dear friends, are you at present standing in crossroads? Do not be perplexed. All you have to do is to wait upon the Lord and ask for His instructions, as David asked in Psalm 25:4-5, “Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths, guide me in your truth.” The Lord will certainly guide you because He has promised in Psalm 32:8,”I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. I will counsel you and watch over you.” In Isaiah 48:17, He has promised, “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go,” He will carry you as a father carries his child, as a shepherd carries his sheep and as an eagle carries its young ones. He will lead you in green pastures and to quiet waters. So, listen to His soft and tender voice and submit to His ways. He is our God forever and ever and He will guide you to the very end.
