GUN OF THE DAY – Japanese Type 94 Pistol Stop by the Dulles - TopicsExpress

GUN OF THE DAY – Japanese Type 94 Pistol Stop by the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, VA to see today’s GOTD and the rest of our special traveling exhibit, “War in the Pacific – Handguns of the Axis & Allies,” at the Nation’s Gun Show today! This 8mm Type 94 semi-automatic pistol was introduced in 1934 and during WWII was issued to Japanese air force and naval units. But that’s not what makes this military handgun stand out in our galleries. The donor of this pistol was Edgar Rice Burroughs, one of the oldest American war correspondents in WWII. Burroughs lived in Hawaii at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor and later posted from New Guinea and Guadalcanal. If you recognized the name – yes, he was also the creator of Tarzan and John Carter of Mars.
