GURDJIEFF FOR DUMMIES, IDIOTS AND THE MYSTICALLY ADDICTED: (this includes me, but probably not you) ... PART THREE (useful for astrology, human design and enneagram junkies) It is George Gurdjieff week here in these territories, as per my benign directive. (b. Jan 13, 1866?, Armenia - beamed up, 1949). Back by strong, international popular demand - here we are again. ~ In Part I, for all those with mystical addictions and seeking disorders - we covered Gurdjieffs salty concept that, 1. We are not one I, but many Is. Further, 2. that we Identify ourselves with these feisty little arisings de jour, and that makes for trouble. And finally, 3. there is awakening from this feverish trance state by paying a certain kind of committed attention. In part two, I offered a profile of Papa G with several exotic pictures, mit Moustache to tell who you are doing business with, and to make you impressed. Here are 4 additional fertile and festive ideas from the wily Master: ~ 1. OCTAVES, 2.TRIADS, 3. SCALE, 4. RELATIVITY - 1. All life is governed by octaves, like in the musical scale: an individual life, a project, a task, a civilizations rise and fall. There are natural intervals in the octave where things deviate or slow down - as with going from E to F and B to C on the piano...no black key. The ability to recognize and adapt to intervals bodes well, and requires conscious attention. The inability to do so, bodes poorly. 2. Triads. The Law of Three is Universal. It applies to all things and all measures. Initiating Force aka Holy Affirming or simply 1st Force; Denying/Resisting Force - Holy Denying, 2nd Force; Neutralizing, Holy Allowing or 3rd Force. Papa G suggests that we are 1st Force blind. We do things by pushing where we should not, and resisting where it is not called for. Third force requires seeing the subtle measures that allow something to move. It often involves waiting for right timing, inviting - rather than telling, creating attractive motivations rather than negative ones. 3. Scale. We do not see things with the proper scale as we go about our business. We get upset with a traffic light and dont notice that we are asleep to real reason we are where we are. The tempests in teacup syndrome or the reverse - Wheres the teacup when theres a tornado syndrome? 4. Relativity. Life is rarely either/or. A person tells you he is not eating meat so as to reduce global warming. His girlfiend is passing out from hunger during a city walk, and he wont go into a restaurant that has meat on the menu. She dies. He sues the restaurant. It goes like this. Thats all you get today; now feed the monkey, aka Me. ~WS
