GYM POST: Couple of points... First, Fellas I realize that you signed up for the gym to play ball with other PSAL/Long Island bball has-beens. But when youre in between games... rather than staring at the girl with the booty shes been working on for months... hit a mini work out... shell be more impressed that youre actually doing something rather than sitting there... staring... like a Thirst Bucket. Lets leave #TheThirst out of the Gym. Literal thirst is cool... Social Thirst... not so much... Secondly fellas... healthy competition is good. OPERATIVE WORD...HEALTHY! So, wanting to bang out 20 reps with good form is a great thing. But sacrificing form to curl that 70 pound weight that Hulky McBulky is lifting with bad form is not smart... or healthy... Hulky McBulky and you will be sharing beds at the local PTs office because you pulled a muscle... strained a muscle... or herniated a disk. Lifting is about the actual motion of a controlled lift... not a swing with parts of your body that have nothing to do with the exercise. If you gotta swing to curl... thats not a curl. Lower that weight and do it correctly... idk who youre trying to impress but your body is screaming for you to stop this madness... Yesterday I worked on a full body circuit... the heaviest weight was 15 pound dumbbells. I incorporated some of my track plyometric explosive exercises. Some push-up variations, some great core work, and of course the ever elusive pull-up. Im determined to be back in tip top shape by the fall...
