Gabon Will Fall – Amoo -Tips Dream Team For All Africa Games As the under-23 national team put finishing touches to preparations for next month’s opening match of the 2015 All Africa Games qualifiers against Gabon, assistant coach of the Nigerian side, Fatai Folorunsho Amoo (Arsenal) has come out with a terse declaration that the opponents will fall. Though Gabon rate higher than Nigeria on current under-23 ratings, having shocked the continent in qualifying for the 2012 Olympics in London, Amoo is holding firm to his belief that the current squad of players under the charge of Coach Samson Yebowei Siasia have what it takes to make the country proud. Amoo said the coaching crew and all players in camp are fully focused on the task getting a win against Gabon next month and ensure they qualify for the football event of the 2015 AAG in Congo Republic. The 11th edition of the African multi-sports fiesta, which is scheduled for September 4 to 19 in Brazzaville, Congo, will be used to mark the Games’ 50th anniversary and return to the same city that hosted the very first edition in 1965. A total of 21 sports events, including football, have been announced for this edition, with two additional disability sports to be staged in athletics and swimming. As the countdown gets hotter towards the fiesta, with the qualifiers round the corner, Amoo says Nigeria’s male soccer squad, now tagged Dream Team 6, will be counted among the participants, despite failing to qualify for the last edition in Algeria. The former Super Eagles assistant coach said: “So far so good, all our preparation for now is geared toward our first game against Gabon who are defending champions in February. “We’ll see what we can do between now and then to make sure that we finish the game off and move on to the next stage. We just have to work hard in camp to see that we put up a good performance and qualify to the next stage of the competition.”
