Galatians 1:6-10, (ESV) I am astonished that you are so quickly - TopicsExpress

Galatians 1:6-10, (ESV) I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ. Have you ever wondered how we have ended up with so many denominations? We all use the same book, but we come up with so many different versions of the truth. For many christian denominations the differences are subtle and insignificant; like the type of music we use, or the particular order of events in our worship. But some of these so called christian denominations, by their very own doctrinal statements, deny the true nature of Jesus Christ. Let me assure you, if you arent following the biblical Jesus, you are following Him at all. One of the biggest mistakes that we have made is that we think we have the right to decided what the bible means. We formulate an idea about things and then we find a verse or two that we can manipulate to mean what we want it to mean and we base our entire salvation on this. Here Paul tells us that even if an angel were to come and tell us another gospel, that he should be accursed. If angels cant give us a different gospel that counts, why do we think that some flashy guy with a pretty smile can? Paul goes on to say that those who are trying to please man with a new gospel CANNOT be followers of Jesus Christ. That should get your attention. By pleasing man, Paul means even yourself. He is saying we cant change the gospel to fit ourselves, or to make us happy and actually be christians. The true problem is that most people dont even know what their denomination believes. They just go there cause thats where their parents went, or they like that kind of music, or it makes them feel all tingly. Many christians today are sitting in buildings on Sunday morning listening to men who by their own admitted doctrinal statements, deny the very possibility of Jesus Christ being Lord. Wouldnt be a bad idea for you to find out exactly what your church believes and them make sure its biblical. And that doesnt mean just look up the verses they quote, but does their doctrine hold up to the entirety of scripture. In order for doctrine to be sound, it must be in agreement with all of Gods word. Just something to chew on! Good morning Facebook! How can I pray with you today?
