Galatians 2:21 - I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. Notice the word Frustrate in the verse above.... It comes from the Greek word: atheteō which means.... Reject... Bring To Nothing... Do Away With... Cast Off... To Render Void.... To Dissannul or Cancel.... To Make Ineffective.!! This is so amazing.... Paul is telling us that The Grace Of God can be Frustrated... Made Void, Cancelled, and Ineffective in our lives.!! Think about this for a moment... The Power To Nullify and Make Void the very Grace Of God, Must be a powerful force indeed.!! In considering what possible Power or Force could do such a thing..... We might tend to think of Demons, Evil Spirits Of Many Kinds, and Satan Himself, as we contemplate what possible Power Can Do Away With and Render Ineffective... Such A Basic Quality Of Gods Nature. But the truth is.... There is No Devil that can make void Gods Grace.!!! That Power Is Found Only In Your Own Hands..!! Notice what Galatians says in chapter 2.. verse 21.. .....for if righteousness come by The Law, then Christ is dead in Vain Paul is saying that If A Righteous Standing Before God can be achieved through Keeping The Law, then there was No Point In Jesus Dieing On The Cross... Christ would have died in Vain.... Unnecessarily... For No Cause.!! Now back to the opening clause...... I Do Not Frustrate ((Make Void and Powerless)) The Grace Of God. This Verse says very clearly That If We Place Our Hope For Righteousness In Our Ability To Keep The Law.... then we have rejected The Grace Of God and Cancelled Its Power And Effectiveness In Our Lives.!! The Obvious Conclusion is That Righteousness Does Not Come By Keeping The Law.... But By Grace Alone.!! For Paul Says In Verse 16 ....for by the Works Of The Law shall no flesh be justified. ((Then we see in verse 16 also: ....we have Believed In Jesus Christ, that we might be Justified By The Faith Of Christ...)) As the New Testament Teaches Us...... The Only Power That Will Nullify Grace In Our Lives and Render It Ineffectual...... Is Our Own Rejection Of Saving Grace and Our Clinging In Hope To The Works Of The Law... For A Righteousness Which The Law Can Never Give Us..!! It Is Only Faith In Jesus Christ That Can Give Us A Pure Righteousness Before God..... Faith In His Substitutionary Death In Our Place.... Faith In The Life In His Shed Blood.... Faith In His Resurrection.
