Galatians 3:4 “Have you suffered so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain?” Paul calls upon the Galatians to consider their past and present conduct, and then to judge whether they were not acting very weakly and unreasonably. He tells them that they had begun in the Spirit, but now were seeking to be made perfect by the flesh. They had embraced the doctrine of the gospel, and had received the Spirit, which is the only and true way of justification. So why go back? It happens far too often. We feel our hearts “Strangely Warmed,” only to grow cooler as times goes on. Typically it is because we do fail to remain in Jesus, but let ourselves be lured by other things only to distract us from what is really important. Prayer: Father save me from myself, lest I be carried off from Your presence. Fill me to overflowing so there is no room for anything but You. Amen
