Galatians 6:14-15King James Version (KJV)14 But God forbid that I - TopicsExpress

Galatians 6:14-15King James Version (KJV)14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. What an extraordinary statement “But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ” is. Paul could have chosen many things to glory in. He could have gloried in the supernatural works the Holy Spirit manifested through his ministry. Or the churches he had founded. He could have gloried in the organizational structure of the Christian church. He could have gloried in the resurrection of the Savior. What is striking is that as wonderful as all of those things are he chose to glory in the cross of Christ. “Why is that?” Because without the cross there is no baptism in the Holy Spirit and no working of miracles through believers. Without the cross there is no church to organize. Without the cross there is no resurrection. Without the cross there are no new creatures in Christ. Everything we have as believers is a result of what Jesus did at the Cross and the resurrection ratified that finished work. So, don’t tell me you can preach the Gospel without the Cross. No cross. No. Gospel. Know the Cross. Know the Gospel. Mace
