Galatians 6:4-5 But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. For each will have to bear his own load. Excuse me, but didnt we just read that we need to help bear one anothers burdens? And then we read that we have to bear our own load. What? This is one of those famous contradictions that nonbelievers talk about so much. But when you really look at the verse, in context, it is not a contradiction at all. The whole point of the chapter so far has been how we, as Christians, should deal with sin in the Church. We have seen that we are to help each other in a spirit of love and gentleness, and we have seen why. We have seen that sin, and the consequences thereof, can be too much for one person to deal with on their own. I believe that this is the whole point of the Church. I dont think that God needs the first thing from us, including worship. But He knows that we need other people that we can count on and a Father above that knows us to our very core and is willing to lift us up when we are in need. As Christians, we have a responsibility to help one another wherever and whenever we can. But when it comes right down to it, we are all responsible for getting ourselves to Heaven. We can never make anyone choose to follow The Lord. Our God is big on free will. We can preach, teach, cajole and lead so that we can take as many as possible with us, but the only person we can truly control is ourselves, and even that is a tall order at times. So do all you can to help your fellows who are in need. Be there wherever and whenever you are needed as often as you are needed. But never forget that it is ultimately only yourself you will have to answer for. We each have a load to carry and we may need help with it at times. But it is still our load. So stay strong and be courageous and trust that God will help you through to the end. ~Kevin Numbers 6:24-26 Romans 8:38-39.
