Gallery Manager/ PA NG Art Gallery - Sydney NSW A position exists for a highly motivated, experienced & dedicated Gallery Manager/ PA in a well established, leading inner-city commercial gallery. NG Art Gallery is looking for an enthusiastic, efficient & professional individual to commence employment in early October 2013. This is an opportunity to become part of a fast paced & driven working environment that supports a passion for the visual arts. The Gallery Manager is responsible for a wide variety of tasks relating directly to daily administration, sales, operation, client & artist relationships, events, curation, exhibition schedules & management of gallery staff. NG Art Gallery is part of a unique business model that includes Mission Restaurant on the ground level. Therefore, in addition to the gallery, the Gallery Manager will also work across restaurant, supporting all areas of operation when needed. The ideal candidate must have excellent oral & written communication, planning & organisational skills, proficient computer & print/ web graphic design based skills & possess the motivation to achieve & maintain a high work standard. A strong work ethic is essential as well as a firm knowledge & understanding of contemporary Australian & international art & artists. The suitable candidate will have completed a degree level (or equivalent) in visual art, art administration, art history or art curation. The position is full time, Tuesday – Friday 10am – 6pm & Saturday 10am – 5pm. Opening nights & special events are in addition to these set weekly hours. Responsibilities: Report to the Gallery Director Daily gallery administration Manage the exhibition schedule Manage & update client databases & maintain client relationships Manage & update artist’s details including up-to-date CV & bios Ordering of stock including office & gallery supplies Respond to all email & telephone communication & enquiries Delegate & oversee appropriate projects & tasks to interns Generate invoices, manage payment plans & report all payments to the bookkeeper Produce artist payment tax receipts & exhibition breakdowns Liaise with artists, collating appropriate files for exhibition collateral Oversee & maintain the stockroom, safe handling of works & update stockroom lists Arrange days/ times for drop off & collection of works for exhibitions Catalogue all exhibition collateral including lists of works, details & pricing Write exhibition proposals for regional & state galleries Working with the director, design & produce marketing collateral Design & produce exhibition invitations, catalogues & fortnightly newsletters Manage the presentation, maintenance, care & running of the gallery space Follow up on all commission enquiries & produce agreements/ contracts relating to commissions Update, send out & file artist contracts Maintain contact with all artists in relation to exhibition scheduling & requests for images & details Update Gallery Director with all relevant communications, developments & deadlines Assist the Gallery Director in curating exhibitions & researching new artists Assist Mission Restaurant with graphic design, marketing collateral, functions & general support where needed Skills: Highly developed organisational & planning skills Excellent oral & written communication skills Excellent computer skills: knowledge of Mac, proficient in CS software including Photoshop, InDesign & Illustrator & Microsoft word & excel Ability to work well in a small team & manage staff Attention to detail in all aspects of the role Extremely reliable, honest, practical & have the ability to work well to deadlines Able to multitask and work effectively in a busy environment Have a positive & enthusiastic attitude & upbeat personality *Please note that only online applications will be considered pedestrian.tv/jobs/arts-culture/gallery-manager-pa/807a2adf-85df-4bd0-b7d8-e55ba4984fec.htm
