Gallerí Gestur/Gallery Guest Farandgallerí/Touring Gallery 30/07/2013 – 26/08/2013 Maria Collingham Five Seascapes (of mutability), Inside a Shell Box, 2013 Oil on cardboard Maria Collingham trained as a painter and completed a PhD in Fine Art 2001. She works in a wide range of media including drawing, painting, installation, print, photography and film as well as singing with the indie punk band Jesuscarfish. Collingham has exhibited widely and works as a Visual Arts lecturer. She has recently completed her first short film ”Home” in collaboration with Dr Matt Kerry. Having worked in the landscape, Collingham has always been fascinated by the sea admiring painters such as Delacroix, Turner and Odilon Redon. Collingham´s interest in scale and its possibilities is clearly visible in these paintings because they capture the mass of the big and wild ocean in a small format, yet making the viewer aware of its size and power.
