Galway Community Circus Performance Troupe The Galway Community Circus team are very excited to announce the formation of a brand new Performance Troupe for our youth circus members. This programme will be a fun and challenging opportunity for any of our Tweenies or Senior members to expand their circus skills, learn new techniques, and develop as performing artists. Starting in mid-September the programme will run for 12 weeks. There will be two classes per week on top of the normal Tweenies/Seniors classes. These classes will involve intensive training in physical theatre, introductions to dance and movement, and the specialisation of existing skills. The members of the programme will also take the lead in devising, creating and running the Galway Community Circus Christmas Show. The Christmas show will take place in December and feature the Tweenie and Senior classes. Deciding to join the Performance Troupe should not be taken lightly. It will be a fun and exciting experience but it will also be serious and hard work. All circus members who join the programme must commit to the project wholeheartedly. They will need to recognise the importance of their active involvement and participation and as such dedicate an appropriate amount of time to realising the group’s goals. Consequently, tutors should be advised in advance of any difficulties in attending meetings or sessions. If a programme participant misses three sessions their position on the programme will automatically be reconsidered. If you are interested come along to the Audition/Information Day which will take place on Wednesday 4th September from 6-7.30pm. Please prepare a two minute solo circus performance and think about answers to the following questions; Why do I do circus? What are my goals in Circus? Why do I want to be a part of the GCC Performance Troupe? SUMMARY Age group: 12-20yrs Open to: Members of Tweenies and Senior groups Training times: Tuesdays 7.30-9.30pm Fridays 6-8pm (plus normal Tweenies / Senior class) Fee: €50 Sept – December, 12 weeks, 24 workshops. Bursaries will be considered.
