Gambia music is growing but… DJ Dee Cee, Founder of Global Link Family UK, has said that Gambia music is growing but it needs recognition and embracement from the public. He told The Voice Vibes on 25 February, 2014 that Gambia has wonderful DJs like Fireman and musicians like Benjamin who all has a future in the music industry. DJ Dee Cee was in The Gambia to attend the 5th annual music and cultural festival the Briks-Tone Fiesta that was organised by the Badinyaa One Family Promotions and the Stand Tall Promotions on 17th February, 2014 at Brikama. “I have a plan to work with Benjamin to push his music in UK and DJ Fireman is a Gambian hidden talent as his talents is not recognized in The Gambia,” he said. “DJ Fireman is a competent DJ who can play in any show anywhere in the world.” He urged Gambians to keep on listening to conscious vibes and let them not focus on dancehall artists because they only focus on money and girls issues. He describes the Briks-Tone fiesta as a noble cause (raising funds for Brikama Health Centre) and says he will be available every year to complement Badinyaa’s efforts. According to him, Global Link Family was found ten years ago dealing with music to uplift people from different cultural backgrounds mainly on reggae one drop. “We play with Stone Love Sound System, DJ Tony Mawthoron, Chris Goldfinger, Robbo Ranx we play in Scotland, Jamaica, Egypt and The Gambia,” he explains. He said Global Link Family has taken a music break now because music has changed to dancehall while their style is to play conscious vibes that will educate and uplift people. He noted that he has plans to work with Gambian artists and DJs to uplift their music internationally.
