Junior Cassie Ford gave Mines (11-20, 7-15 RMAC) its second lead of the game, 3-2, in the top of the third with a two-run home run to centerfield. Senior Morgan Anderson led off with a single through the middle and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by classmate Sami Springer, before Ford turned on a 3-2 pitch for her 13th career long ball. WNMU (11-28, 9-17 RMAC) got one back via a sacrifice fly in the fifth, but two fielding errors in the sixth allowed the Orediggers to bump the lead to the eventual winning margin. Ford finished 1-for-4 with the two RBI and run scored, her eighth multi-RBI game in 2014. Seniors Melissa Marshall and Courtney Derus each hit 2-for-4. The pair accounted for the teams second run as Derus led off the second inning with a double to left and scored on an RBI single back up the hole by Marshall. Anderson was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs. Sophomore Kristen Prudhomme (10-14) went the distance in the circle for her conference-leading 10th win, fanning four with only three earned runs and six hits conceded on 106 pitches.
