Game 7 - Katipos vs Suburbs Dragons Saturday · · Taken at Avondale Racecourse Game 7 Katipos vs Suburbs Dragons Avondale Racecourse Saturday 29th June Again the Katipos squad has been struck down by illness with Jarrel, Ezra, Marshal and Jayden out for the count. There were a few nervous parents on the sidelines as a well prepared Suburbs Dragons team looked keen to tip over the competition leading Katipos. The Dragons looked like a good outfit with plenty of enthusiasm, size and pace but were soon taken down a notch or two by a motivated Katipos team. This was a match which was won on defense with the Katipos coming up in a strong line and pushing the opposition out to the fringes. This committed defensive effort with rips from every member of the team was rewarded with a swag of handovers and a half time score of 6-0. The Katipos used this wealth of possession well, taking the ball up the middle of the park and using quick restarts and support play to plunder the opposition try line. Everyone was well represented with ball in hand although Tyson unleashed a masterclass in attacking flair. Tyson punished any gaps around the tackle ball and when pressed went wide, using outstanding skill, patience and vision to cut through the opposition line. The Katipos have been working hard at training this week with coach Mike ratcheting up the players skills. The focus has been on eliminating the basic mistakes and starting to work on speed at the breakdown and backline continuity. This hard work is paying off on the pitch with the Katipos now leading their junior division with a 6-1 winning record. Keep up the outstanding work.
