Game 7 and WestPoint Park sponsored by Red Carpet Chauffeurs hosted Cheadle Town. WestPoint Park started the game as if they were still half asleep and the windy conditions did not help as they spent the first 5 minutes of the game trying to clear their area. Some harsh words were delivered and the lads finally woke up, Skipper started to take control of the midfield and non stop was buzzing around the pitch trying to make things happen. A simple pass into Scrapper, who expertly turned his marker and set off down the line before delivering a fantastic cross Lionel and predator both having their shots blocked by a nervous looking Cheadle defence. The game was fairly even in the first half but the second half saw WestPoint with the wind behind them really take the game to Cheadle. Non stop won the ball in the middle of the pitch before ghosting past 4 Cheadle players and neatly slotting the ball into the back of the net, 2 minutes later and a corner kick was sent over by Scrapper, Predator got the flick on and Non stop sent a looping header over the keeper, Cheadle desperately tried to clear the ball but it was already over the line. The Westpoint Defence looked solid and never looked like conceding in the second half. First game was won 2 nil. The second game saw coach make some tactical changes as Cheadle bought their big un out of goal and sent him up front, WestPoint switched to 2 defenders in Joe Sweeper Kelly and Lucas Stubbsy Stubbs to cope with the wind and the change. The first half was a tight battle with WestPoints Number 1 making a couple of smart saves to deny Cheadle and then on the stroke of half time Harvey Turbo Feet Jackson went through one on one but could not quite get the direction on his strike. The half time whistle came and coach changed things again bringing Lionel back into the game, WestPoint were playing some great fluid passing football, but the ball just wouldnt go in for them with a number of shots either blocked or saved by the Cheadle reserve keeper. Then with just 7 minutes to play Predator won the ball 30 yards out stepped forward before unleashing a shot which flew past the Cheadle Keeper before he knew what was going on. They could have had 3 keepers in and they wouldnt have saved it. A goal worthy of winning any game. Westpoint had a couple of other late chances with Valiant narrowly missing when one on one with the keeper. The game finished 1 nil, the final whistle was followed by a pitch invasion by the WestPoint fans who had finally seen their boys deservedly win back to back games. Coach Whittingham was overjoyed at the final whistle and said I could not be prouder of the boys, those 2 wins have been coming for a while and to get 2 clean sheets aswell is testament to the hard work they are putting in on the training ground and on the pitch. Man of the Match was awarded to Mitch Lionel Barrow for a tenacious wing display and was chosen by Mark (Predators dad). WestPoint under 10s next game is at home against one of the top divisions best teams Bradwell Bombers in the league cup on the 3rd November. This will be a tough game but the lads are playing with confidence and will play with no fear.
