Games can be a great way to teach children so many skills. For example: Play Uno together to help teach a child to recognize colors and numbers. In addition, the child will learn social skills such as taking turns, following rules, and (hopefully, eventually) how to win and/or lose gracefully. Then there are the more advanced skills such as learning strategies that are more likely to win. Some people jot down the games played in the childs portfolio. Others worry that some people might not recognize the educational worth of game-playing and so will list the lessons under more recognizable categories--such as number and color recognition.
