Gandhi’s Charkha Auctioned For 110,000 Pounds The charkha Mahatma Gandhi used in the Yerwada jail during the Quit India Movement has been auctioned in the UK for 110,000 pounds. The charkha had a minimum bid of 60,000 pounds. Gandhi after using it in prison had gifted it to American Free Methodist missionary Revd Floyd A Puffer. Gandhi presented the charkha to Puffer for his work in Colonial India. Gandhi had spent several years in Yerwada notably in 1932.
