Gangster is a must watch if you want to know how not to make movies. There is hardly anything thrilling or heroic about this movie and it is mostly a drag with just one or two scenes being engaging. The second half is a royal mess and one cannot blame the viewer for losing interest. I could see at least 5 people sleeping in the theater that barely had 100 people. The only difference between Nyla Usha and Aparna Gopinath is that the former gets only 4 scenes and the latter gets 6 scenes- what would have happened if these ladies were not part of the movie? The answer is nothing. Sekhar Menon is grossly miscast as the villain- his gait and mass may suit the role but his child like face belies him. John Paul seems to be suffering from High Blood Pressure and Kunchan from constipation- why do they do this to actors? Mammootty looks suave with a lighter frame adorned by suits, blazers and leather jackets- not to forget sunglasses- but thats hardly enough to suffer a movie that fails on every other count.
