Gangtok July 6: The Chief Secretary Mrs. R Ongmu along with the Secretary P.H.E Mr. T.B Rajalim, Chief Engineer, contractor and other concerned officials from the department visited Rateychu the reservoir of the drinking water for the capital city of Gangtok today. During this visit the Chief Secretary inspected various work for Greater Gangtok Water Supply Schemes, and appealed to them to complete the work in the stipulated time frame with quality work in mind. She also urged the Secretary and the concerned officials of the department to have good road map for future to give regular supply of drinking water for the people of Gangtok City possibly by also increasing the amount of supply from the current rate, keeping in mind the target for the next twenty years. Mrs. Ongmu also assured full cooperation from her side and also informed that their won’t be any constraint of funds for the ongoing work in the area for the continuous supply of drinking water for the residents of Gangtok. Later in the afternoon she also visited SELEP Water Works Complex where treatment plant for Gangtok Water Supply is situated. During her visited she inspected the new constructions of the 21 MLB treatment plant and the construction of Clear Water reservoir. When these construction will be completed then the residents of Gangtok city will get 41 MLB of pure drinking water.
