Gani Karim: Well deserved and certainly far overdue. I am feeling all tingly with this news and suddenly Im feeling proud to be a Singaporean.. and even prouder to be one of those who has had the privilege of growing along with Haresh all these years and having intimate taste of many of his work that got actualized onto the stage and theatre, and thus having a first hand glimpse of the artist at work and a sample of that genius that brews in his mind thats a universe unto itself.. I am even more blessed then in that sense for having been inspired by his work and learning from them, and even more so, for I had the honour to be touched by Haresh-Alvin-ism as they had generously included me to be a tiny drop in their pond of creative legacy. Still, always refreshing and always on or ahead of the pulse of the moment and current social consciousness; and still igniting with the spark of whats next.. And will always be among the rare in my priority list of must-work-together-again-please-include-me-intimately-in-any-future-inspirations-and/or-collaborations-God-Willing.. A Torchbearer and a Singapore icon beyond merely consigned within the realm of our still-evolving theatre scene.. If the purpose of Art is to provoke thought and create a space for discourse, the body of work is certainly testament that its always more then that.. For in striving towards entertaining, you have also touched, inspired, intrigued and defined most of the time if not all, in my humble opinion, the microcosm within a macrocism of a rich and sometimes controversial universe of our tiny dot of an island that invited accessibility towards what would otherwise be discomforting for many on this island of ours.. Apart from championing those whom Otherwise would not haves voice. Congratulations Haresh., for being that beacon that suddenly brings a brighter spotlight to this dot on the map... A trailblazer thats almost too tough an act to better and follow., God willing, may Inspiration continue to be your ever elevating companion always. God Bless
