Ganoderma Lucidum, the King of Herbal Medicine & The Lingzhi Mushroom or Reishi Mushroom, the Mushrooms of Immortality..... Herbal cures have existed throughout history in almost all lands of the world. Of all the systems of herbal cures that have existed in different lands, the Chinese traditional medicine has been one of the most organized and well-documented systems of herbal cures. Modern science has verified the effectiveness of the ancient herbal remedies of China. Among the time-honored Chinese wonder herbs that have passed the test of time is ganoderna lucidum or reishi or lingzhi. It is a large, bitter medicinal mushroom with shining exterior. It grows in the dark and dense mountainous woods of high humidity in the tropical and temperate regions of the world. It grows on decaying wood. It may take nearly 1 year to reach maturity. Its incredible curative properties have won it the titles of ‘supernatural mushroom’, ‘magic mushroom’ and ‘plant of longevity or immortality ’. More than 2000 tthousand years of regular use in China and Japan and the modern clinical trial research studies have shown that it is a cure-all kind of herb, a virtual elixir of life which though can not make man deathless and ageless, can save him from many living deaths such as AIDS, cancer and other fatal diseases which make man’s life a nightmare worse than death. The most important thing is that it is safe to use it for a long time. It has no side effects, if not overdosed. Instead of side-effects it brings extra benefits. It can stay with man through out his hectic life in the modern world, saving him from fatigue by restoring his energy and stamina. It is due to its restorative properties that it is being used to make coffee also—a coffee which brings you health. Though this herb was discovered thousands of years ago, it was not available for common man. In the past, it was among the rarest herbs. In addition, in the woods, the mushroom could not preserve its nutrients from the surrounding environment and from the winds for a long time. The winds scattered its spores which were collected randomly along with foreign matter. Therefore, the Chinese herbalists had to trawl through lands to get the right mature wild ganoderma with full nutrients for the Chinese emperors and royal officials. But now, after years of rigorous research work on its cultured cultivation, it’s being grown indoors where high humidity and darkness are created for its better growth on a very large scale to meet its high pharmaceutical demand in the international medicine market. Special nets are used to cover the ganoderma cultivation area. In this way, its spores are protected from being scattered by winds. Now, it is within the easy access of common man at the health food stores and a few clicks away on internet. It is being produced not only in its native East Asian countries such as China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Malaysia but also in the USA. - See more at: ganodermalucidum/?page_id=856#sthash.PvXzsur4.dpuf Lingzhi possesses anti-tumor, anti-cancer, immunomodulatory and immunotherapeutic activities, supported by studies on polysaccharides, terpenes, and other bioactive compounds isolated from fruiting bodies and mycelia of this fungus (reviewed by R. R. Paterson[17] and Lindequist et al.[43]). It has also been found to inhibit platelet aggregation, and to lower blood pressure (via inhibition of angiotensin-converting enzyme[44]), cholesterol, and blood sugar.[45] Laboratory studies have shown anti-neoplastic effects of fungal extracts or isolated compounds against some types of cancer, including epithelial ovarian cancer.[46] In an animal model, Ganoderma has been reported to prevent cancer metastasis,[47] with potency comparable to Lentinan from Shiitake mushrooms.[48] The mechanisms by which Ganoderma lucidum may affect cancer are unknown and they may target different stages of cancer development: inhibition of angiogenesis (formation of new, tumor-induced blood vessels, created to supply nutrients to the tumor) mediated by cytokines, cytoxicity, inhibiting migration of the cancer cells and metastasis, and inducing and enhancing apoptosis of tumor cells.[17] Nevertheless, Ganoderma lucidum extracts are already used in commercial pharmaceuticals such as MC-S for suppressing cancer cell proliferation and migration. Additional studies indicate that ganoderic acid has some protective effects against liver injury by viruses and other toxic agents in mice, suggesting a potential benefit of this compound in the treatment of liver diseases in humans,[49] and Ganoderma-derived sterols inhibit lanosterol 14α-demethylase activity in the biosynthesis of cholesterol .[50] Ganoderma lucidum compounds inhibit 5-alpha reductase activity in the biosynthesis of dihydrotestosterone.[44] Besides effects on mammalian physiology, Ganoderma lucidum is reported to have anti-bacterial and anti-viral activities.[51][52] Ganoderma lucidum is reported to exhibit direct anti-viral with the following viruses; HSV-1, HSV-2, influenza virus, vesicular stomatitis. Ganoderma lucidum mushrooms are reported to exhibit direct anti-microbial properties with the following organisms; Aspergillus niger, Bacillus cereus, Candida albicans, and Escherichia coli. Other benefits were studied such as the effect of lowering hypertension, cholesterol, and anti-inflammatory benefits through the ganoderic acid properties. Its genome, with about 12,600 genes on 13 chromosomes, was sequenced in 2012.[53] Read More (Reading#) - See more at: ganodermalucidum/#sthash.7qYRYo8n.dpuf en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ganoderma en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lingzhi_mushroom ~ Download to see & send fun emoticons on Facebook myemoticons ~
