Gap Of Time Between Sehri And Fajr There is a Hadith in Jame’ Tirmidhi about the amount of time between Sehri and Fajr Translation of Hadith: Hadhrat Anas Bin Malik narrates on the authority of Hadhrat Zaid Bin Thabit (May Allah be well pleased with him), that he says: We had Sehri with the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and then got up for Salaat. I asked: How much time in between. He said: Equal to the time taken for reciting 50 verses of the Holy Quran. (Jame’ Tirmidhi, Hadith No. 707) For this reason, the Fuqaha (Jurists) have clarified that having Sehri so late that the time for Fajr might start, is Makruh. Nowadays, Sehri should be finished as per the time given in the calendars, etc., as they are prepared by in light of the research of the scholars.
