Garden Pondering: I spent a few more hours out in the garden on - TopicsExpress

Garden Pondering: I spent a few more hours out in the garden on my hands and knees working on my garden therapy again today. While I was pulling weeds I got to thinking.... and if your eyes glaze over here... I will understand... ;) There are a few common weeds out there. The ones like the dandelion plants. A beneficial plant that can be eaten in a salad, drank in a wine, spread on toast in a jam or fed to the bunnies. The dandelion isnt a bad plant. It just isnt needed in the garden. There are thoughts like that... they are not bad thoughts - maybe even beneficial thoughts in the right place and time but too many at the wrong time can chock out other good thoughts... these need to be kept under control. (think about what you are thinking about when your kids are talking to you - or when you are sitting in school or church) Then there are the volunteer canola plants from last years crop. Again, they are not bad weeds. They were food plants last year, good for oil and feed. A great crop that the farmer was very happy with but this year they are not needed. They werent asked to grow... they are left overs. Sort of like thoughts that we keep mulling over and over and over... they were good at one time, probably very important thoughts and they served a good purpose but their life span is over now. They dont need to keep coming back up. They need to be kept out of the the garden of our thoughts. (Once you have worked through something and settled it, dont revisit it, second guessing... just DO it) There is a weed out there that is like a little Velcro strand which has such lovely little burrs for seeds... this plant really is a funny plant... I am not sure what its good for. The sheep get caught up in it and come home with garlands about their neck for me to laugh at them. When I pull this weed, I need to use both hands, one to pull up the plant and one to pull the plant off of me! This plant wants to come home with me. I dont want it in my house!!!! Sort of thoughts that just dont stop hey? Those thoughts that stick in our heads and creep around and stick to everything else. We need to tell them to stop AND then we need to stand there and put our hands on our hips and stamp our feet and make sure they DO stop! Thats a weed thought that is of no use to anyone! (Oh the thoughts that stick in our head, maybe something silly we watched on tv or maybe some silly gossip that someone shared - there is no need for silly, sticky thoughts) There is another weed out there that creeps along the ground, it takes up a space about a foot wide but only has one little root in the middle, I have to dig and feel around to find the root or I just end up pulling off the leaves. Some thoughts or feelings are like that - they take up a lot of space or a lot of our time... and we might think we have pulled them out but all we did was pull off a leaf... the root of the thought is still there... some times we need to get to the root of the thought/feeling to find out why it keeps popping up. Some times we have thoughts/feeling that have the real meaning hiding deep and we might have to take some time to really get rid of that one. (still working on some of those weed thoughts myself!) When I was done I had a beautiful garden, I can now see my rows and the plants can now see the sun. Once the weed thoughts are taken care of we can get on with progressive and positive thinking and living...and bloom just as it was planned that we would bloom! :) What does your garden teach you?
