Gareth Bale will play for Real Madrid for the next six seasons. All the steps required to finalise a deal Daniel Levy has tried to drawout as long as possible fell into place yesterday. Spurs announced the signings of Lamela, Eriksen and Chiriches, while the Welsh player was at the club’s offices in London, terminatinghis contract. According to English sources it’s the most expensive deal in history, costing 101 million euros. Madrid, however, put the price at a more modest 91 million euros. Bale will earn seven million euros after tax each season and will have 60% of his image rights. It’s the first time a Real Madrid player hascrossed the 50% mark. Cristiano has 40% of his rights, 20% is held by Gestifute and Madrid hold theremaining 40%. The other players have 50%. Every department at Madrid has been working overtime ready for Bale’s arrival. The presentation stand in the director’s box has been up for nine days now, the club doctor’s are on 24 hour standby, the number 11 shirts are ready and the lawyers were tying up the loose ends (image rights, exchange rates on payments) yesterday.
