Garry Brown for County Commissioner Precinct II Since, Sarah - TopicsExpress

Garry Brown for County Commissioner Precinct II Since, Sarah Eckhart stepped down from being a County Commissioner of Precinct II, and then three people have decided to run and to replace her. One of the three candidates running for County Commissioner Precinct II is Garry Brown. He has been a lifelong democrat who first entered politics in 1992 while serving as a Volunteer Coordinator for the Bill Clinton Colorado Primary Campaign. In 1994, he served on Lloyd Doggett’s first campaign to the United States House of Representatives. In the primary challenge, Garry Brown will be facing two other candidates. Moreover, Garry Brown believes that his experience with county government gives him an edge over others of this competition. In this race, Garry Brown is the only candidate that has worked at the County Commissioner Court while working for the former County Commissioner, Karen Hubert. Furthermore Garry mentioned that the voters should elect someone who understands, the inner-working of the county government and who can startup right away after the elections. In addition Garry mentioned that the County Commissioner County Court position is not like a running a business or serving on the City Council, due to the fact their job is very unique. Garry Brown believes that there are three points that the County Commissioner Court could do to make the County government better for its citizens. If elected he would like for the County Commissioner Court to create a new position of County Administrator. According to Garry, Hiring a County Administrator will free up the Commissioners Court to make more and better policy decisions. It would also free up more time for Commissioners to be out in their respective Precincts meeting with constituents. Secondly, he would like to establish a Countywide Public Information Office. According to Garry, this office would proactively release news about what the County is doing and would bring the bright sunshine of transparency to government. Finally, Garry would like to perform a review of the Information Technology Services Department. According to Garry, an audit would provide us a roadmap for placing our ITS Department on the cutting edge which in turn, would give it the means to make those ideas recently announced by the tax office, into realities.
