Gary Webbs The Dark Alliance was a key moment in the history of the internet: the watershed event when Americans *had* to go online to get the truth. As an internet event, it was a direct reaction to the travesty in the establishment media. Most people will probably just go see the upcoming movie Kill the Messenger because it has Omar Little, Henry Hill, Jason Bourne, Lucia, Vincent Corleone, and both President Bartletts Comm Dir & WH Counsel. Those are lots of good reasons to see a movie. But before seeing it, learn more about this bizarre, true story. Robert Parry (who won a George Polk Award in 1984 for his Iran-Contra coverage while at the Associated Press) has a chilling account he posts every year on Webbs birthday. Its a must read for understanding the backlash Webb received: consortiumnews/2012/12/09/the-warning-in-gary-webbs-death-2/ It will be interesting to see if the movie title, Kill the Messenger is only metaphorical, or if it deals with culpability indirectly (predictable result from how thoroughly they destroyed his life) or directly (whether in fact it was Webb who shot himself in the head - twice).
